Alison Brown is an American actress best known for her roles in the television series ''Gilmore Girls'', ''The Office'', and ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer''. She was born in Dallas, Texas on October 5, 1977. Her parents, both educators, raised her in an environment that encouraged creativity and exploration.

Brown attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in theatre. She began her acting career in the late 1990s, appearing in student films and small independent projects. In 2000, she landed a recurring role on the hit show ''Gilmore Girls'' as Miss Patty, a dance teacher and mentor to the show's protagonist, Rory Gilmore.

After ''Gilmore Girls'', Brown began appearing in a variety of television shows and movies, including ''The Office'', ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'', ''The Mentalist'', and ''Law & Order: Criminal Intent''. She has also been involved in several stage productions, including ''My Fair Lady'' and ''Grease''.

In addition to her acting career, Brown is also a successful entrepreneur. She founded her own production company, Brownstone Films, in 2004. The company produces films and television shows, with Brown serving as both executive producer and director.
