Alchemist, born Alphonse Capone, is an American rapper, actor, and entrepreneur. He is best known for his role in the critically acclaimed film The Departed and for his Grammy-winning album The Alchemist Presents: The Good Book.

Alchemist was born in South Jamaica, Queens, New York on April 7, 1975. His parents, who were of Italian and Puerto Rican descent, left him and his four siblings in the care of his grandmother. Growing up, Alchemist was heavily influenced by the hip-hop culture. He was a fan of artists such as Run-D.M.C., Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane.

At the age of 19, Alchemist began to pursue a career in music. He released his first mixtape, “The Chemistry”, in 1995. The mixtape was well-received, and Alchemist soon became a sought-after producer for major labels. He has since produced tracks for artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and G-Unit.

Alchemist’s first major television appearance was in the HBO series The Sopranos, in which he played a small role as a drug dealer. His big break came in 2006, when he was cast as a character in Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning film The Departed. He has since appeared in a number of films, including American Gangster, 8 Mile, and The Italian Job.
