Alchemist (born Alastair Adair) is a British actor, best known for his roles in the films The Prestige (2006), The Dark Knight (2008) and Inception (2010). He began his career in the theatre, performing in a number of plays and musicals before making his television debut in 2003.

Alchemist grew up in London and studied drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduation, he joined the National Theatre Company, where he starred in a number of plays, including Macbeth and King Lear. He also had roles in productions of Oedipus and Julius Caesar.

His first major film role was in Christopher Nolan's The Prestige. He played the role of Cutter, an expert illusionist and the mentor of Hugh Jackman's character. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Alchemist received much praise for his performance.

Alchemist then went on to star in The Dark Knight, playing the mysterious villain, Ra's al Ghul. He was praised for his performance in this role and was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also had a memorable role in Inception, playing the role of Eames, a master forger and a member of Leonardo DiCaprio's team.

Alchemist's other film credits include roles in The Imitation Game, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and The Aeronauts. He also had a minor role in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Aside from film, Alchemist is also an accomplished stage and television actor. He has had roles in a number of television series, including Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Game of Thrones. He also had a recurring role in the BBC series The White Queen.
