Alchemist, born Edward Alexander Crowley, is an American actor best known for his role as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men series of films.

The son of an English teacher and a music professor, Alchemist grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He started his career in the theater, performing in various local productions. After graduating from high school, he moved to New York City to pursue acting professionally. He quickly found success, appearing in numerous Off-Broadway productions, as well as in commercials.

In 2000, he was cast as Professor Charles Xavier in the first X-Men film, a role that he reprised for the subsequent sequels. He also appeared in the popular TV series Smallville, as Lex Luthor's father. In 2010, he starred in the film adaptation of the popular video game Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Alchemist has also become known for his humanitarian work. He established the Edward A. Crowley Foundation, which provides financial assistance to underprivileged youth in Detroit. He has also served on the board of directors of the Detroit-based charity organization BAMN.

In addition to his acting and philanthropic work, Alchemist is a published writer. His first book, The Art of Transformation, was published in 2018. In it, he describes his journey from an aspiring actor to an international celebrity.

Alchemist continues to perform in both stage and screen productions, and to work on behalf of charities. He is a highly respected figure in both Hollywood and the charity sector, and is an inspiration to aspiring actors everywhere.
