Al Waxman (1935-2001) was a Canadian actor best known for his roles in the television series Cagney & Lacey, King of Kensington, and Less Than Kind.

Waxman was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on March 2, 1935. He was the son of Polish Jewish immigrants. He developed an interest in acting at an early age and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, studying under Sanford Meisner.

Throughout his career, Waxman appeared in over 100 television shows and films, including The Poppy Is Also a Flower, The Silent Partner, The Boys in the Band, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, The Dead Zone, and The Great Race. He was best known for his role as Inspector Sidney Green in the Emmy-award winning series Cagney & Lacey (1982-1988). He also starred in the Canadian television series King of Kensington (1975-1980) and Less Than Kind (2008-2012).

Waxman was a passionate supporter of Canadian film and television. He was a founding member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and the Canadian Film Centre. He was also an advocate for the Canadian Actors' Equity Association.

In addition to his acting career, Waxman was an accomplished director and producer, having directed episodes of Cagney & Lacey and King of Kensington. He also directed and produced the feature film The Big Town (1987) and the television movie Jack London's Klondike Fever (1980).

Al Waxman passed away on January 18, 2001, at the age of 65. His legacy lives on through his many performances, and he is remembered as one of Canada's most beloved actors.
