Adriana Vila Guevara is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and humanitarian. She was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve. Adriana has a long and distinguished career in filmmaking, beginning in her early twenties.

Adriana has a passion for telling stories that shed light on important social issues. She has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to capture the stories of people living in extreme poverty and conflict. She has also worked extensively in the United States, focusing on stories of the immigrant experience.

Adriana’s work has been featured in international film festivals and on television networks around the world. Her films have won numerous awards including the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, the Robert Flaherty Award for Best Documentary at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and the Emmy for Outstanding Documentary at the Miami International Film Festival.

Adriana has worked with many important organizations to bring attention to the issues she covers in her films. She has been a consultant for the United Nations and the World Bank, and she is an active member of the International Documentary Association. She is also a board member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers.

Adriana has been honored for her humanitarian work with numerous awards including the Human Rights Watch Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. She has also been recognized by the President of the United States for her work in promoting human rights.
