BIO

Abby Jack Neidik is an internationally award-winning documentary filmmaker. She is known for her creative, thought-provoking films that tell stories of the human experience.

Neidik was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in a Jewish family. She earned her degree in film and television production from Ryerson University in 1998 and went on to pursue a career in documentary filmmaking.

Neidik’s first documentary, “The Unravelling” (2006), which she directed and produced, focused on the issues surrounding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It was an official selection at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and won the Grand Prize at the International Documentary Film Festival in Buenos Aires.

Neidik's next two documentaries, “Weaving Our Stories” (2007) and “Faces of Change” (2009), explored the lives of women living in refugee camps in Lebanon and Kenya. The films were highly acclaimed and won several awards, including Best Documentary at the International Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver.

In 2010, Neidik released her fourth documentary, “The Price of Gold”, which exposed the horrors of the gold mining industry in Peru. The film was an official selection at numerous film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Neidik has since gone on to produce and direct documentaries on a wide range of topics, including the Syrian refugee crisis, the effects of climate change, and the criminal justice system. Her films have been screened at festivals around the world and have garnered numerous awards, including the Canadian Screen Award for Best Documentary and the Amnesty International Human Rights Award.

In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Neidik is also a passionate advocate for human rights. She has spoken at numerous events and given lectures on topics such as social justice and gender equality.
