About Tribeca Festival
The Tribeca Festival, founded in 2002 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in response to the September 11 attacks, is an annual festival held each June in New York City. Originally named Tribeca Film Festival, it dropped 'Film' in 2021 to reflect expanded programming across TV, podcasts, games, music and immersive media. Documentary remains a core pillar, with juried competitions including Best Documentary Feature, Best New Documentary Filmmaker, Best Cinematography in a Documentary and Best Documentary Editing.
