A vanished outsider becomes the haunting legend of a remote Quebec village
Forty years after the mysterious disappearance of a man known only as The Punk, the community of Natashquan looks back on the brief but unforgettable mark he left behind.
In 1981, an unusual young man arrived in this small fishing village in Quebec and quickly became part of its identity. The locals called him The Punk. Then, five years later, he disappeared without a trace. His absence never stopped echoing through the village.
Blending direct cinema, true crime, and archival material, The Punk of Natashquan explores the thin line between memory and myth. Rather than solving the mystery, the film captures the strange power of a person who became larger than life, turning a local story into a portrait of fascination, loss, and collective imagination.
