The Moon Beneath the Water - Struggling to remember, fighting to heal
This compelling documentary captures the resilience of Erto, a small community in the Dolomites still grappling with the aftermath of a tragic disaster that struck 60 years ago due to external greed.
Over a decade, the filmmaker follows the mayor as he champions the village’s dignity and remembrance in the face of national neglect. The community faces a new divide: a proposed art installation on the dam that caused the tragedy. For the mayor and the curator, the artwork represents healing and renewal, while others see it as a step toward erasing painful memories. Through the voice of nature, the film portrays a town’s enduring fight for respect and recognition.
