The History Begins Starting From Us. Trips and voices of the Brazilian dictatorship
The filmmaker and visual artist Vitória Monteiro starts from her own experience as a Brazilian migrant in Vienna to make this kind of collective testimony about the exile of Brazilian women during the dictatorship that was established in 1964.
To do so, she weaves together a series of scenes of trips in Europe during the period when the military regime was in power. A female voice assumes the collective identity to bring the historical context to the fore. The rest is pure and powerful cinema.
