In Their Own Time - Three women, one city, endless reflections
This insightful documentary is a lyrical journey into the inner worlds of three women from Kolkata—Srija, Tuhnu, and Jhumur. Shot across two phases over three years, the film unfolds without ever showing their faces. Instead, their words weave through vivid images of the city and its suburbs, turning daily scenes into mirrors of memory, identity, love, and change.
In the first phase, the women speak of family, routines, and friendships; later, they revisit these conversations, reflecting on how life has shifted, how dreams have evolved, and how their relationship with themselves—and with the director—has grown.
A meditation on time, memory, and universality, the film transforms the impersonal into the profoundly personal, revealing that the ordinary is never truly ordinary.
