In Character. The "cultural revolution" today
In Character is creative documentary exploring the impact of the Cultural Revolution on modern China, in which a director making a semi-autobiographical film takes 13 young actors back to that turbulent time by bringing them to a firearms factory in rural Sichuan, where they are cut off from the rest of the world.
Having to wear clothes and listen to music from the period, they start to adapt to the Cultural Revolution spirit, and conflict arises when one actor tries to leave, raising fascinating questions about the new generation in China and the ways in which human nature can change.
