Against the backdrop of migration, a young Gambian's perilous journey to Europe meets unexpected challenges. But with UN intervention, Amadou Jobe discovers that true resilience begins at home.
Gambia Returned Migrants - Hope, Journey, Resilience, Homecoming
In this educational short film made by the UN, the harrowing journey of young Gambians venturing to Europe for brighter prospects unfolds. Amidst the vast numbers of hopefuls is Amadou Jobe, a 25-year-old who, after navigating the challenges of northern Africa, found himself detained in Libya just as Italy beckoned. Like many others, his plight sees a beacon of hope when the UN Migration Agency (IOM) intervenes, facilitating their return home. As Amadou reintegrates, supported by a youth training initiative backed by IOM and the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), he becomes a symbol of resilience, striving to rebuild his life in The Gambia from the ground up.
