Lars Lerin, one of Scandinavia's most celebrated painters, has spent years battling alcoholism, anxiety, and social phobia. After a long period of recovery, he begins looking for love online and is drawn to Manoel (known as Junior), a young Brazilian dancer. The two men meet in Sweden despite being unable to speak a word of each other's language. Director Sara Broos captures the daily texture of their relationship: its warmth, its miscommunications, and its dark undertones of doubt and control. The film is at once a portrait of two people and a meditation on the human need for connection across cultural and emotional distance.

Sara Broos is a Dutch-Swedish filmmaker known for deeply intimate, visually poetic documentaries. Her access to this story is uniquely personal: she is Lars Lerin's goddaughter, and her closeness to him shapes the film's candid, confessional register. Lerin himself appears as the film's central subject, opening up on camera about insecurity, isolation, and the fear of love. Manoel Marques, the Brazilian dancer at the heart of the story, also appears as himself.

Awards and festivals

For You Naked received strong recognition on the international documentary circuit. At the Gothenburg International Film Festival, it won the Dragon Award for Best Swedish Documentary. It was also selected for IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam), one of the world's leading documentary festivals, as well as Karlovy Vary and the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, among many others. It received Special Jury Mentions at Mix Copenhagen and Side by Side International Film Festival, and took Best Nordic Documentary at Nordic Docs.
