Drawing a Line - Punk artists' Berlin Wall project thwarted

In 1986, in West Berlin, five former members of the Weimar underground punk scene from East Germany embarked on a provocative art project called White Line. They plan to paint a white line encircling the west side of the Berlin Wall, as a political statement against the normalization of the Wall's existence in the West.

While the Wall's western side had been transformed into a vibrant tourist attraction, the artists aim to reclaim its grim reality as a dangerous and divisive barrier. Their project is abruptly halted when East German border guards discover them and imprison one artist after crossing into East Berlin through a hidden door.

The documentary reconstructs this bold endeavor and reveals the unexpected twist: one of the artists was a state security informant, a fact uncovered nearly thirty years later.
