Symmetry is one of five shorts featured in the film "Mathematical Peep Shows." The collection was made by Charles and Ray Eames for the IBM Mathematica Exhibit which opened in 1961. The consequences of multiplying a number by itself are illustrated by a legend in which a king promises his vizier a reward of one grain of wheat for the first square on a chess board, to be doubled for each of the 63 succeeding squares.
