Carlos Ruiz is a renowned Mexican director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his films Amores Perros, Y Tu Mamá También, The Assassination of Richard Nixon, and Babel.

Ruiz was born in Mexico City in 1971. He studied cinema and communication at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. After graduating, he worked as a film editor for several television shows and short films.

In 2000, Ruiz created his first feature film, Amores Perros, which became an international success. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was also well-received by critics, winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
