These will be the documentaries nominees for the Oscars (if everything goes to plan)

Nov. 16, 2015

Yes, we know, yea, is still missing a lot (we could put the exact days left here, but it will depend on when you’re reading this article, spacetime is capricious). But… well, you came this far. Well then, keep reading.

For the last three years, the Oscar for best documentary has gone to the favorite, the one everyone said it would win (Searching For Sugar Man, 20 Feet From Stardom and Citizenfour). If the same happens this year, it seems that the winner will be one of these:

Amy by Asif Kapadia (2015)

The Amy Winehouse story in her own words, with unseen footage.

The Look of Silence by Joshua Oppenheimer (2014)

The Look of Silence is a documentary you will never forget. A family that survived the genocide in Indonesia faces the men that killed one of their brothers.

Cartel Land by Matthew Heineman (2015)

Cartel Land is a western of the XXI century focused on Mexican drug cartels.

The Wolfpack by Crystal Moselle (2015)

The Wolfpack explains the history of the Angulo, six brothers who have lived the entirety of their lives isolated from society and that they have learned through movies everything they know about the outside world.

But, maybe the tradition will break this year and the Oscar goes to a not so favorite documentary… We also have a good list with those. Soon, in GuideDoc.
